I told you so!

This is the quilt I made start to finish last week! I am so happy! (that is my mother in law's feet)
This is the top I made for Linus. I will take it to Nancy in Mobile when I go to the retreat. I think it turn out kind of cute.
Nothing fancy, but I hear the theme music to Charlie Brown every time I look at it, so it makes me smile. :^)
More later!
Diane
BTW...I just found out my niece HGF has a name for me...it is DiDi! Isn't that precious?

Weeks of frustration!

I have not blogged due to having so much going on.

I have quilted some. Yes actually quilted! I know all of my friends will scoff at that since I am notoriously a "topper", but I actually made a top and quilted and bound it last week! WOO HOO!

My mother in law has been here for several weeks and we have had so much fun laughing and talking. We get so silly when we are together. Lots of fun!

*******BEWARE, I AM ABOUT TO RANT**********

I have had a broken stove for just shy of 8 weeks. I have had to deal with our home leasing company, a not so smart furniture/appliance store "repair" person, and SEARS. I am here to tell you and vow...I will NEVER own a SEARS product! EVER! I will, Lord willing, never deal with SEARS again once we get all of this repaired.
It has been about 11 years since I have had to deal with SEARS repair center and vowed then I would never again own an appliance bought from them. I kept my word and never bought from them again, but this lease house is full of them. UGH!
They are not repairmen, they are parts changers. They can't trouble shoot, they don't keep appointments, they lie and are RUDE!
I called my leasing company today and told them I wanted a stove today. I was tired of being patient and nice. The time for nice is OVER!
I am pretty sure I won't have a stove but it made me feel better being firm instead of polite and understanding.

On to the next rant!
I have been looking for a house since May. I think I have the laziest realtor. She has decided she needs to take classes and have summer fun days with her child. Not too much of a problem, but when she wants to only communicate via email, not actually do any of the looking for homes, not reply to emails for over a week, not do research on the homes she didn't find (I found the homes on the Internet listings and sent them to her to research if they are short sales), I start having problems.
I emailed this morning since it has been two weeks since we looked at homes and my lease is up on this house October 1st. I asked her why she hasn't replied. Her reply was, "I sent you and email, didn't you get it?" Excuse me? What happened to conducting business by phone? That way there is not "Not getting" emails. There is no excuse! I am sick of this!
I am the easiest person in the world to get along with until you take advantage of me then I am not a nice person. I have decided today I will call a new realtor. I will tell them I have one month to find a home. If they are hungry they will get busy.

Too much frustration!!!

What cha think?

This is what I worked on yesterday. Super simple.
I finally got all of the dinosaurs together. I think it turned out pretty cute.
I wish I could think to make an intelligent post, but my brain is tired. So I will just have to be happy to get the pictures up.

Harry Potter

We went to the movies last night and saw the Harry Potter movie. At the risk of ruining it for any others...WHAT BOOK DID THEY GET THIS FROM?????
If this movie was suppose to be based on the sixth book they failed. There were whole scenes that were made up and had nothing at all to do with the book. Then there were things that were necessary to move the story line along that were completely ignored.
I am so disappointed.
Oh well, I said last movie I was not going to see any more, and I never planned to go again, but Ray wanted us all to go together.
I understand the whole, "the books are so long and detailed that they have to pick only certain things to include", but this is ridiculous.
I have resigned myself to enjoying the books and leave the movies alone.
How sad.

Pride causes pain...

My mother in law is a VERY active woman. She can hardly sit still. This morning, minutes after my husband left for work (6am) she was out the door pulling weeds and making my yard look pretty. I slept until about 6:30 and joined her. We pulled weeds, trimmed palm trees, trimmed shrubs and cut back ground cover that wanted to cover the sidewalk.

We finally came in the house about 10:45 as hot and tired as could be. She headed for the shower, I headed for the pool and Joseph headed to his room. After we all got cleaned up and rested a few minutes and filled our empty bellies I started doing more house hunting on the internet. Have I said how I am SO tired of looking for a house? It seems like 8 out of every 10 houses I find on the internet is either a short sale or a foreclosure. I refuse to get involved in either of those, so that really reduces the choices we have. But I know there is a house for us out there!

It is now late in the evening and my muscles are getting very stiff. Man that woman can work circles around me! I worked way longer than I wanted to, but there was no way I was coming in the house before her! Pride, it is a painful thing!
But golly my yard looks good!

Blog surfing and audio books

I love reading blogs. I love seeing and reading about what others are doing in their life.
I thought I would share.

Karen is having a giveaway, how fun!

I love seeing what Vicki is up to, she does so many interesting things! Makes soap and lotions, dyes fabric, cross stitch, longarm quilting, postcards...

Wanda is always so inspiring

So far this summer I have listened to:
Tumbling Blocks by Earlene Fowler
Cat's Eyewitness by Rita Mae Brown
The Purrfect Murder by Rita Mae Brown
The Collectors by Davis Baldacci
The Cat who sang for the Birds by Lillian Jackson Braun
A light in the Window by Jan Karon
Puddin'head Wilson by Mark Twain (what I am listening to now)

This is just the audio books, I have read a couple of Baldacci books also. I love to read. When the kids were young I hardly ever got to read so now I am making up for lost time. I prefer audio books so I can listen while I clean or sew or cook or whatever I have to do. We love to listen while we drive long distances. It sure makes boring drives more enjoyable.

As you can see I like mysteries, but I also like historical and southern fiction and non fiction history.

After reading about and talking with Judy L about her Kindle I was seriously thinking about buying one but I am leaning more to buying better earphones and subscribing to an audio books subscription service. I think that would suite me better.

Do you read or listen much? What type of books do you like?
Let me hear from you.

Look what I've been doing!

Sitting in a hotel in Wilmington, North Carolina has been very productive!

This has been so fun. Today I want to finish the last dinosaur and then possibly start a new project. You know how it is, you bring way more than you should, thinking you won't need food or sleep and will get it all finished and go home with a smug smile. LOL

This dinosaur quilt will have lots of embellishments before it is over, like applique for heads and tails and something for eyes. Who knows what all. But of course I didn't bring anything to do any of that so it will have to wait until I get home.

More pictures later,
Diane
